Schaghticoke Reservation, USA

The Schaghticoke are a Native American Tribe. They have been recognized by the state for over 300 years. The reservation is one of the oldest in the United States and was granted in 1736. The tribe became a refuge for Indians who were fleeing colonists. The tribe was mostly of Mahican descent, but also Oweantinock, Pequot, Pootatuck, and Tunxis.
